Wednesday 02 April 2025 marks the 20th anniversary of the crash of Royal Australian Navy Sea King helicopter call sign ‘Shark 02’ on the Indonesian island of Nias while conducting humanitarian assistance operations after the Boxing Day tsunami, resulting in the loss of nine ADF members.
We honour the memory of those who were lost in the Sea King helicopter Shark 02 disaster and acknowledge their family and friends.
To mark the 20th anniversary of the tragedy, memorial services will be held as follows:
- Wednesday 02 April 1030, at the Fleet Air Arm Museum, HMAS Albatross.
