The purpose of the Naval Golf Association is to foster, promote and encourage the playing of golf by permanent ADF members stationed in naval ships and establishments in NSW and HMAS Creswell (Australian Capital Territory). The Association provides management of all single Service (Navy) golf played for any State Representative or Combined Service competitions.
The NGA organises events such as the Navy A, B and C grade championships, the Sir David Martin (SDM) Charity Day, Admiral Treloar Trophy (Officers vs Sailors), Navy Inter-service series and the SDM Midweek competition.
The Navy Championship for A, B & C grade players is conducted annually by stroke play over a course selected by the Committee with the winner being acclaimed as the 'Navy Champion' and awarded the Perpetual Trophy. Eligibility is restricted to Naval members stationed in NSW Ships, establishments and HMAS Creswell.
